Save for Later
Working collaboratively with members of the local community, Black Thrive and Age UK Lambeth bring you a day of Calypso music, film, photography and discussion in celebration of the Windrush Generation in Lambeth, 70 years on since the Empire Windrush docked at Tilbury in Essex.
Bringing together Black elders living in and around Brixton, the event aims to connect and celebrate with Black elders, share stories and develop relationships that lead to a more all-age inclusive approach to improving Black mental health in Lambeth.
Join us to:
-
Celebrate and share stories of the Windrush Generation
-
Explore ways to break the cycle and thrive in later life
-
Promote support across generations & positive futures for all
-
Enjoy tasty food, music and company
The event coincides with an exhibition of illustrations of Caribbean elders by Ken McCalla which run from 20th March to 31st of May at the Vida Walsh Centre Café and features a screening of short film on legacy of Windrush Generation, panel discussion and presentations on ageing and wellbeing. The event will be recorded and we will have a graphic illustrator to capture the feedback from the day.
