Building a common Unity

Fifty years ago, the 1968 Race Relations Act was passed. Despite some improvements, Black people currently find themselves in a ‘hostile environment’: and a rise in post-Brexit racist incidents.  Recent statistics show that African Caribbean pupils are still three times more likely to be excluded from school and an education attainment gap that is taking far too long to close.

A community cannot be empowered by others, and given the continued experience of racism and discrimination there is a clear need for Black community empowerment. ‘Get Out & Empower’ is an interactive event that will address the need for community empowerment through debate and a call to action. Refreshments will be available.
