Come early to catch a fascinating look at Mozambican music in our doc screening of Karen Boswall’s “Marrabentando” at 7.30pm.
Dance to the acoustic reggae of PAX NINDI aka Harare Dread https://www.facebook.com/pnindi
Watch acclaimed Zimbawean singer, dancer and festival organiser ANNA MUDEKA https://annamudeka.co.uk/ as she presents a fabulous repertoire of dances from Southern Africa.
Get your son and salsa on with the full-fat Cuban big band sound of community orchestra ORQUESTA ESTELAR https://www.facebook.com/orquestaestelar/ …
… and groove to the sweet West African high-life melodies of the YUNG AFRIKA PYONEERS
https://www.facebook.com/groups/293847757707247/ .
DJs AFRICATHY (Catherine Plant), DEBBIE (Outerglobe), JOHN ARMSTRONG (BBE), CHIEF COMMANDER (Yaaba Funk) and VOLTA 45 (DOOT) will keep you on your toes between sets and all the way till 3am, with the whole shebang from marrabenta, semba and kuduro to tuku music, chimurenga and gospel, rumba, salsa and charanga, afrobeat, highlife, mbalax, afrohouse, funana and much more.
Use the + £5 or £8 Donation ticket options in the Advance Ticket online sales form to donate a little bit extra.
For those unable to attend but wanting to donate, see links below!
There’ll be a fab raffle and sales on the night: we’ve had some brilliant pledges of record bundles from eminent labels, a hat-maker beloved by the stars, fashion accessories, art and craft makers and a pop-up meal for two! Please be sure to bring some cash for the raffle tickets.
Proceeds from your tickets, the raffle and any art and record sales will go to trusted organisations and charities in the affected countries, with a focus on supporting women and children especially (links below)
Once the immediate media coverage goes off the boil, it’s all too easy to forget that this is where the real journey to longer-term, sustainable assistance and solutions begins. With your help we hope to raise money to support communities in the regions in Mozambique, Zimbabwe and Malawi affected by the recent cyclones to rebuild and future-proof homes and infrastructure devastated by the storms and flooding, to safeguard and improve health provision, educational facilities, and counter land erosion, flooding and other climate-related and environmental threats.
Listen back to The Outerglobe recently broadcasted on Resonance FM with Catherine Plant – main organiser – and Malika Beraud of Rachel and Malika’s who has donated to the raffle and will have a stall full of goodies, in conversation with Debbie Golt. You can find out more about the event and the recipients and hear some fabuloso related music. www.mixcloud.com/resonance/the-outerglobe-30th-may-2019
