The Vagina Museum is pleased to present a #film screening of the award-winning film #HiddenFigures followed by a panel of #womenofcolour in STEM to discuss issues that still surround WoC in STEM today.
Hidden Figures is the incredible untold story of Katherine Johnson (Taraji P. Henson), Dorothy Vaughan (Octavia Spencer) and Mary Jackson (Janelle Monáe)—brilliant #AfricanAmerican women working at #NASA, who served as the brains behind one of the greatest operations in history: the launch of astronaut John Glenn into orbit, a stunning achievement that restored the nation’s confidence, turned around the Space Race, and galvanized the world. The visionary trio crossed all gender and race lines to inspire generations to dream big.

Our panel:

Rema Abdulaziz is a doctor in Nuclear Engineering at the Electrochemical Innovation Lab at UCL Chemical Engineering. During her PhD, she co-founded the UCL Women Engineers Society. She’s an avid science enthusiast and spends a lot of her time encouraging young people, especially girls, to engage with STEM subjects.

Corina Kwami is an engineer devoted to making cities more desireable places to live. From designing water systems that serve all to getting jazz musicians connected with opportunities, her work aims to ignore the gap between sciences and the arts.

Hana Ayoob is a science festival programmer and artist, sharing her love for science through live events and science-inspired art. She recently co-founded the Minorities in STEM network to showcase and support BAME individuals in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

Admission is £7 in advance (no booking fee) or £9 on the door, all the money raised goes towards making the Vagina Museum a reality.
