February is National Heart Month! In this video, Holly S. Andersen, MD, the Director of Education and Outreach at The Ronald O. Perelman Heart Institute at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York City, discusses how to prevent heart disease. Her comments focus mostly on heart disease in women; why screenings and healthy habits are important; and why the subject of heart disease in women, although often underplayed, needs to be brought into the forefront of public attention.
As Dr. Andersen discusses, heart disease is the number one killer of women in the United States, taking more lives each year than all types of cancer combined.
