Akeelah’s Room is an initiative that aims to create spaces for Black girls. With all the current events of the world and COVID-19 creating challenges for gatherings, the Akeelah’s Room team brings us a series of online conversations on topics and issues impacting the lives of Black girls.
The virtual sharing circles via Zoom are weekly spaces where Black girls can meet and share their thoughts and feelings – together, with other Black girls.
Each Wednesday in August, one of the Akeelah’s Room team members will host and lead an online conversation with Black girls on the topic listed:
August 5th: Black Girls and Self-Esteem
August 12th: Black Girls in the Arts
August 19th: Black Girls, Affirmations and Self Care Talk
August 26th: Black Girls and Post-Secondary Education
Join us for one, two, or all the sessions in August every Wednesday evening @ 7 pm! It’s free, we have PRIZES!!
