UCL BME Network and Black History Studies presents ‘AH WEH DEM AH GWAAN WID? Science Fiction vs Black Fact!!’ with Dr Lez Henry and Bro Hakim on Friday 2nd February 2018.
Have you ever considered things like why Black people were invariably absent in many of the old Sci Fi films?
Or what have the Xmen got to do with Black History. Or even what has Marcus Garvey got to do with He-Man?
Well in this highly interactive and thought provoking talk, Brother Hakim ‘The Film Doctor’ & Dr Lez Henry will take you on a journey through the world of Sci Fi, revealing ‘weh dem really ah gwaan wid’ when it comes to Black representation in film and television.

This event will take place on FRIDAY 2nd FEBRUARY 2018 from 6.30pm to 9pm.
Doors open at 6.00pm.
This event will be held at Lecture Theatre 1, Cruciform Building, University College London, Gower Street, London, WC1E 6BT. The Cruciform Building is situated on Gower Street opposite the main entrance to UCL.
Cruciform LT1 is in the basement. Enter the building. Go straight ahead to the main staircase and walk down to the basement. Turn right at the bottom of the stairs. Go through the left door at the end of the corridor. The room is the third door on the right.
The nearest Underground stations are Euston Square, Warren Street and Euston. Numerous buses stop opposite the Cruciform Building including the 10, 14, 24, 29, 73, 134, 390.
Admission is £5 per person (tickets only). No payments on the door.
PLEASE ARRIVE AT LEAST 15 MINUTES EARLY.
