A special event at Ace Hotel London led by writer, cultural commentator and award-winning broadcaster Ekow Eshun that takes a closer look – on both sides of the Atlantic from the 80s to present day – at the perception of black men in the media, masculinity through a feminist lens and the need for safe spaces for young black men. Ekow will be joined by by UAL Chair of Contemporary Art and Urbanism & Director of the Transnational Art, Identity and Nation Research Centre Professor Paul Goodwin and writer, broadcaster, barrister & human rights development worker Afua Hirsch.

The Barbican Art Gallery’s unprecedented exhibition Boom For Real brings together an outstanding selection of more than 100 works from international museums and private collections.
