Every Tuesday in October Black Book will be hosting discussions, masterclasses, workshops and cook-a-longs to celebrate Black History Month

October is Black History Month in the UK and Black Book is looking to celebrate this time with engaging events every Tuesday focused on the food and drinks world in the UK.

Each Tuesday we will be focusing on one of four themes that reflect the four pillars of Black Book: Equality, Visibility, Wealth Creation and Equity. Bringing together a global collective of thought leaders and experts within the food and drink world, the event series looks to explore these themes in a meaningful and dynamic ways. As well as a celebration this is also a time to support, nurture, and address topics that surround our community.

WEEK #1 EQUALITY: Tuesday 6th October

  • Workshop with…Aleesha Hansel @_spillingit
  • Time: 10am to 11am
  • What you’ll gain: Insight into how Aleesha has navigated her career, now working in wine and what was the attraction to the food and drink world? Aleesha will also be sharing some of her favourite wines as well as pairing to the evenings dinner (cook-a-long with Joe Faulkner)
  • Masterclass with… Ronke Lawal @ariatupr + @ronkelawal
  • Time: 2pm to 3pm (40 mins + 20 mins Q&A session)
  • What you’ll gain: A deeper dive into the world of PR as Black individual + PDF of presentation and key takeaways
  • Cook-a-long with… Joe Faulkner of The Krio Kanteen
  • Time: 6pm to 7.30pm

  • Discussion with… Melissa Thompson & Zoe Adjonyoh #battleofAfros
  • Time: 8pm to 9pm (45 mins + 15 mins Q&A session)
  • What you’ll gain: No bars held conversation with two leading Black women of the UK food industry and a look to the future

This is in collaboration with The Tramshed Project, where we will be hosting some of the events – all of which will be available online. Tickets for individual events are available or full day tickets. You can expect masterclasses, workshops, discussions and of course cook-a-long with some of the most exciting talent from the Black diaspora.
