We would like to host a film screening, to build awareness of overlaps regarding disability, mental illness, race and racism. It will take part during October which is Black History Month in the UK, as we thought that it would be a perfect time to increase awareness around the ways that disability also affects and impacts experiences of race and racism for black BAME communities, and how race affects experiences of disability.

We will show “What happened miss Simone?” at the Brighthelm Centre on 26th October, from 4-8pm. At the event, we will offer snacks and drinks so that people will feel as if they are at home and we hope to provide a wonderful experience as well as sharing new ideas on the topic via a 30 min panel discussion after the movie.
