Manchester Eastern Caribbean Culturama Festival
Great news for UK Caribbean festival revellers: Start getting excited, because we are pleased to announce the Manchester Eastern Caribbean Culturama Festival will be back by public demand for 2018 with its own place on the annual Caribbean cultural calendar.
The Culturama festival, previously integrated into the wider Caribbean Carnival of Manchester, will be held in its own right for 2018 and not as part of the annual Manchester Carnival. This means another fun packed weekend to enjoy, giving us all more reason to be happy.
The festival organisers are promising a new twist for 2018, as the festival will be held over 3 days, providing more time to enjoy cultural activities than the usual carnival weekend.
The theme for Caribbean Culturama Festival 2018 is ‘A Flowing River of Colours’. The event is a free of charge and will feature a variety of Eastern Caribbean acts.
Although, the schedule is set to grow, we have a sneak preview of what is going to be on show:
Day 1:
Steel bands, string bands and Calypso music.
Day 2:
Featuring well known SOCA artists
Day 3:
Mass bands on stage, costumes with king, queen and princesses all on show.
To keep up with the coming events, follow the festival on the Manchester Eastern Caribbean Culturama Festival Facebook homepage and Manchester Eastern Caribbean Culturama Festival 2018 events page.
The Saturday and Sunday will also include a new youth stage with music and arts for young people. The stage will be run by Keith Moyo from Manchester Connect Cultural Group.
The festival will include a variety of Eastern Caribbean food stalls. These will be controlled and managed by the festival organisers to ensure as much money as possible is invested back into the Culturama festival.
The festival organisers are still inviting non-Caribbean food stalls to apply for stall places. Arts and crafts trades are also welcome, but the organisers envisage limited spaces, so get your stall booked early on 07584 926 340.
The event will be held over:
Friday 1st June 2018
4pm-10pm
Saturday 2nd June 2018
1pm-12pm
Sunday 3rd June 2018
1pm-12pm
The festival events will take place around Festival City (Md’s), Grey Mary Lane, Manchester, M11 3DQ.
