Join Meera and Rhianna from “A History of Everyone Else” for a lockdown-special movie night & post-film discussion of one of our favourite black British films: BABYLON!

FREE & OPEN TO ALL!

On Saturday 28th November at 6pm, we’ll be hosting a virtual movie night to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Babylon. Babylon is a cult classic considered by many to be *the* great U.K. reggae movie. This film was considered so controversial for its honest depiction of life as a young black man in the 80s that it was banned in the US until…. 2019 (?!?).

Never been to a virtual movie night before? It’s easy:

– Join our Zoom call link at 6pm, where we’ll introduce ourselves & the film, and get comfortable.

– Grab your popcorn and head to Netflix or Youtube (rental cost £2.49) and watch the film in your own time (you can of course also watch the film anytime before saturday). OR join our netflix party link so we can watch the film in sync & use the chat throughout!

– At 8.15pm, rejoin the Zoom chat and connect with other movie-watchers. We’ll discuss some of our favourite themes of the film, and try to answer any questions you might have!

We’ll also be joined by some black British avid lovers of the film, who will talk about the impact watching the film had on them in the 80s.

Any questions? Email rhiannailube@gmail.com and we’ll get back to you 🙂
