Exhibition by Joe Zee exploring the personal and social history associated with our inherited and collected belongings.
This free exhibition, in the lounge area, at The Hive, includes a collection of Joe’s belongings. Engaging with these objects—whether by seeing, touching, hearing, or smelling them—can evoke nostalgia and trigger memories.
Growing up in the vibrant culture and diverse community of 1970s Birmingham influenced his artistic expression.
The exhibition features a selection of artwork from Joe created in response to his collection. The objects provide memory prompts for specific moments, like listening to a song on the record player or playing in the street on roller skates. Utilising vibrant colours and mixed media transforming his memories into visual narratives.
