Feeding your soul….
Ella Frank #EllaFrank
With a range of influences from the worlds of jazz, neo soul, funk, hip-hop and R&B, Ella Frank delivers something beautifully smooth here on this gorgeous track. Taking her name from a combination of Ella Fitzgerald and Frank Sinatra, this young east London singer-songwriter and performer made us sit up and take note with her track Sugar towards the end of last year. To date that’s racked up almost 140,000 Spotify streams and found favour not just here in the UK but particularly in Holland, where her sound has been well-received. We hear elements of Corinne Bailey Rae’s great debut album shining through in her voice here, as she tells the tale of that instant connection one often feels if you catch the eyes of a stranger, who you then never see again, but also never forget. She’s featured in the Compass section of our weekly magazine, and received support from 6 Music, Mi-Soul, Represent Radio, MTV and OnSmash among others. The vibe created here is so welcoming and inclusive, you can’t fail to be drawn in by it. A perfect chilled weekend groove.

Nipah #Nipah
After winning the iluvlive (home of Izzy Bizu) prize for new emerging artist, the singer/song writer has gone from strength to strength – featuring on MTV Wrap and performing with NTS radio live show Shoobz, her mellow sound is navigating its way through the music underground.
The ‘Nipah EP’ is a glimpse into the future sound that will eclipse the airwaves and change the landscape of music in the U.K – Nipah is at the forefront of this eclectic sound. Featuring 8 tracks it feels something like a sonic coming of age that speaks on a love story of passion, lust, and woman exploring her fantasies.

Giorgia Lo #GiorgiaLo
Hailing from South East London, Giorgia Lo’s talent, voice and lyrics have the power to captivate beyond her native postcode. Bought up with strong female influences, Giorgia continues to channel her surrounding experiences into her soulful, powerful, R&B vocals that exert ownership, defiance and independence. Soul, Jazz and Hip-Hop are all part of Giorgia’s make-up and she continues to pay homage to these revolutionary periods in time by recording to live instruments and performing with a band. Debut track ‘Watch and Learn’ with long-term collaborator, Mom Tudie (also featuring sax by Subfonix and bass guitar by Alex Robertson) pricked the ears of not only the industry but the people that matter: the tastemakers, the fans and fellow musicians who thrive on real music. ‘Watch and Learn’ opened doors to other musical collaborations, laying the foundation for Giorgia’s raw, intricate, multi-dimensional EP that is due for release later this year. These collaborators include accomplished producer & songwriter, Utters, who’s worked with several of Giorgia’s musical inspirations including Maverick Sabre and Nastylgia, who’s produced for some of the hottest artists to come out of the UK Music scene this year, including Nadia Rose and J Hus. Intwined in these collaborations is an honesty, a vulnerability and an authenticity that can be easily overlooked and compromised in the current map of our growing musical exports but Giorgia remains loyal to her core principles and her music is a true testament to that. It’s time for London, the UK and the World to ‘watch’ and ‘learn’ from Giorgia Lo.
