As part of International Day of the Girl Child, FORWARD and Africa Advocacy Foundation are hosting an open forum for African communities in South London to discuss culture, identity and belonging in the 21st century and challenges talking to communities back home.

Uncomfortable Conversations is a FORWARD community project that empowers communities in the African diaspora to raise social and cultural issues that are difficult to discuss. In particular, harmful traditional practices and violence against women and girls. 

Advice and Support Hub – 11am-2pm

There will be guest panellists, a chance to ask questions, focus group discussions, and a display of support services available in Lambeth. Food and refreshments provided.

Discussion Forum – 5.30pm-8pm

Come and find out about the local services supporting BME women who are affected by domestic violence, FGM, forced marriage and other forms of abuse.

There is no need to register for this event, seats will be taken on a first come basis, we look forward to seeing you!
