This soundscape features archive footage, original composition, music samples and interviews from individual voices of the Caribbean diaspora narrating their own stories on movement, belonging and erasure. Older and younger generations make their own journey’s across the Thames in sound, conversations that flow above water, passing sugar, and all of trappings of the “mother country.” Expressing the uncertainty of status, sustaining families and the joys of a self-loving future.
A Journey Of Our Own has been created by poet, musician and sound designer Xana, in collaboration with artists and local groups including the Caribbean Social Forum, Black feminist organisation Imkaan and more.
A Journey Of Our Own runs throughout the day from 10am-10pm.
Tickets are required for the Emirates Air Line.
Quote ‘Windrush’ at either Terminal for discounted tickets.
Flights are c. 10 minutes each way.
