As the leaves burnish and the Autumnal chill sets in, celebrate the start of Black History Month, with the first ever BLACK HISTORY COME DINE at the Black Cultural Archives in Brixton, hosted by the BCA’s very own chef Elaine Buchanan in association with the Black History Man himself, Robin Walker.
Whilst you indulge in a lavish four-course meal, allow Robin to feed your mind with the richest of enthralling Black History nuggets. This promises to be a unique and memorable evening!
BLACK BRITISH HISTORY: 70 YEARS OF MUSIC & STRUGGLE:
Robin Walker will deliver an engrossing multi-media presentation of 70 eventful years of modern Black British heritage, the session will be a fun and interactive quiz as well as lecture. You too will get the opportunity to contribute your own knowledge. Topics will include Black British political and civil rights struggle, the evolution of Black British musical genres, how Black Britain influenced the culture and lifestyle of the host communities.

Starter:
Plantain fritters with freshly made hot pepper sauce (vegan)
Palate cleanser:
Escaveitch of watermelon with an additional option of feta cheese
Main: a choice of ONE of the following –
Braised ox-cheeks with an oxtail garnish (including butterbeans and spinner dumplins)
Sweet potato and roast pumpkin conchigilie pasta with a Papa Afrika sauce (vegan)
Blackened salmon in ngombo sauce
OPTIONS 1 & 3 served with either plain rice, rice and peas or pounded yam
Dessert:
Warm pineapple and coconut tatin cake (served with either icecream or custard)
Boozy tropical fruit syllabub with coconut tuille
Pears poached in ginger wine (vegan)
