Black History is not limited to 31 days of Facebook posts and Posters.
Black History is a lifetime of learning. It is an experience and we are here to live it.
As part of a national movement to transform the narrative of Black History to Black Herstory, we are hosting the first ever Celebrating Black Women in Science Conference.
For much too long, the contributions made by black women in the world of health, medicine, engineering, physics, astronomy, research, microbiology, mathematics, pharmacy ( …the list can go on for ever!) have been overlooked and under-appreciated.
We will be commemorating the women who have and who are shaping the world of medicine and STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) today.
Our two-day programme includes inspirational presentations by guest speakers, a live and lived exhibition – displaying an array of phenomenal women. There will be facilitated opportunities to network and liaise with some of the most influential women in medicine and STEM for your career progression, stalls and workshops to implement your learning practically.
On Sunday, we will host a film screening of Hidden Figures, followed by a provocative discussion.
And to truly celebrate in style, we will monument our weekend of black excellence with live entertainment at our after party!
This event is open to all and suitable for all ages.
Entry is FREE for young people.
This is a charitable event.
Proceeds will go towards supporting women and girls in The Gambia via the Equal Empowerment Programme with The Vessel.
