More than 25,000 black and minority ethnic #BAME people live with #dementia in the UK, in part due to vascular risk factors such as hypertension often found in African-Caribbean and South Asian UK populations. In other ethnic groups such as Irish and Jewish, there is a demographically older population so, with the link between age and #dementia, prevalence is likely to be higher.
This conference aims to inform, educate and explore the risk factors of Vascular Dementia. The fear of discrimination, Isolation and access to services in the UK.
” They look after their own don’t they.”
This conference will explore the myths and stigma that surrounds the BAME communities and dementia.
We promise this will be a stimulating and exciting day. It will be the first time in the UK that we all come together to discuss Vascular dementia and the BAME community.
Confirmed Speakers
#DavidTruswell . #DrStJohn . #ProfessorTonyLeiba . #DrKarenJutlla . #MaryTilki , #SeanFrecklton . #RonaldAmaze
