About this Event
#AFBE-UK is 10 years old with a network reach off over 6000 individuals of #BAME origin across the UK from various engineering industries. The 10th Anniversary Gala and Awards Dinner is the premier networking event of the year for STEM professionals and university students including those from #BAME backgrounds working in or studying towards science, technology, engineering and mathematics careers/subjects, STEM promoters, stakeholders from engineering organisations, politicians and the wider community. We invite you to join us at the IET Savoy place for a sparkling evening as we celebrate the achievements over the past decade. This #BlackTie event will be hosted by former BBC broadcaster #HenryBonsu.
Guests will arrive at 18:30 and the evening will start with a drinks and networking reception held in the historic Savoy place located in the centre of London.
Following the extended networking reception guests will be invited to take their seats for a keynote address from Tom Ilube, British Entrepreneur and educational philanthropist (ranked number 1 in the Powerlist 2017, an annual listing of the UK’s 100 most powerful people with #African or #Afro-Caribbean heritage).
Thereafter guests will enjoy a splendid three-course meal accompanied by wine, beer and soft drinks.
The climax of the evening will be the public recognition of the winners of the 10th Anniversary #AFBE Awards. Guests will be entertained with an eclectic mix of Jazz, modern and #Afrobeats music by self taught saxophonist O’Brien Alaribe
